Accommodation

Virvale Barn is set within a 26 acre small holding in Exmoor National Park. Virvale nestles in a sheltered position with views to the South East, at the bottom of a private 1/2 mile lane.  The views of the hills and moor are uninterrupted.  Walkers can enjoy stepping out of the property onto bridlepaths and lanes to Combe Martin, Heddons Mouth, the South West Coastal Path and the wonderful views from Holdstone Down and Great Hangman, the highest cliff in England.

Our wonderfully sheltered and quiet location encourages the local wildlife. Red deer are often seen in the fields, as well as rabbits, squirrels and a wide variety of local birdlife. Our Shetland and Exmoor ponies add to the picturesque scene.

The barn itself is constructed from the original stone and cob that is typical of Exmoor. The interior is mainly wood and stone, sympathetically renovated to retain as much of the original as is practical.

The spacious main living room is on the first floor and has high, vaulted ceilings, and excellent views from large windows. There is a wood stove in the centre of the room, with a sofa bed and futon converting to double beds, if required. Next to the sitting room is the second bedroom and en suite bathroom, which can be accessed from the living room.

On the ground floor there is a well equipped kitchen with fridge, freezer, oven and microwave. The table and kitchen facilities accommodate a maximum of 6.

Also on the ground floor are the large family bathroom and main bedroom, which has a king size bed and en suite toilet. Doors lead from the bedroom onto a small patio.

Virvale Barn has night storage heating throughout, as well as the central wood burning stove, providing a cosy atmosphere, whatever the time of year.
